The main priorities are: solid flooring, chew‑safe and sturdy walls, and excellent ventilation. Wire‑floor cages and aquariums are not suitable.

• Wire or mesh floors (they cause pain and foot injuries).
• Tiny pet‑shop cages and glass tanks with poor airflow and insufficient space.

• Hay - While hay is essential to a piggy's diet, it shouldn't be used as the only bedding in the cage. We recommend dedicated hay piles or kept off the ground in a hay rack or bag.
