Build your Own Guinea Pig Cage FAQs

Bigger is always better when it comes to guinea pig housing. If you are not sure where to start, choose the largest size that fits your space and use our cage size guide to help match it to the number of piggies in your family. For an estimation see below:

1 Guinea Pig (We do recommend to house in pairs) 2x3

2-3 Guinea Pigs: 2x4

3-4 Guinea Pigs: 2x5

4 + Guinea Pigs: 2x6

A liner is not essential, but it does make cleaning much easier and helps create a more comfortable base for your guinea pigs. It is a great option if you want a setup that feels cosy, practical and easy to maintain.

The loft is usually an optional extra, so you can build the setup that suits your piggies and your budget. Some families love the extra space, while others prefer to keep things simple with one roomy level. You can select 'Add Loft' on each cage option.

Not always. Many guinea pigs are perfectly happy in an open-top cage, but a lid can be a good idea if you have other pets at home or just want that added peace of mind. Our grids are designed to be high enough that your guinea pig cannot climb.

Yes, that is one of the nice things about an Ozzy cage setup. You can start with the cage itself and add extras like a stand later when you are ready.
